Diagnosis of Breast Cancer1

Breast Cancer diagnosis is done using the following:

Breast ultrasound

This is done with the help of a machine that uses sound waves to make detailed pictures, called sonograms. Breast ultrasound involves production of sonograms of areas inside the breast.

Diagnostic mammogram

This type of mammogram is a more detailed X-ray of the breast and is done in case of any abnormal observations in the screening mammogram.

Biopsy

A tissue or fluid sample is collected from the breast to detect presence of abnormal cells
